Clive Turner

I went to night school to learn to play bridge when I was a teenager and there started something that would soon become a lifelong passion.

I was the youngest person on the course and always used to be the youngest player in virtually every club I played in. Of course, time catches up with us all.

As I drifted around the UK, bridge was always with me and something I could rely upon as a constant.

I devoted my working life to General Insurance and owned my own business between 1991 and 2018 where I advised clients on complex commercial insurance.

I'm ‘born and bred in Preston’ as we say around here, and I still live there, close to where my business was based.

14 years ago I was encouraged to start to teach bridge at my local club and I still teach there today using the full EBED syllabus.

With my teaching becoming a rewarding part of life I was pleased to get the opportunity to work more closely with EBED and help to shape the bridge community of the future.

Outside the bridge world I have both indoor and outdoor hobbies. Indoors I play wargames and run various science based projects with my grandchildren. Outdoors I enjoy messing with my various MG cars, sailing classic yachts, fell walking and ballroom dancing.
